The New Start Community garden is open! Community gardens are deemed an essential service, so we are open. We're practicing the required 6' distancing, but projects can still happen.
The garden sits on a 1.6 baseball field and has the follow amenities and features, all of which need volunteer help:
Native Plant Garden, Pollinator Garden, Fruit orchard of 40 trees, a Fig Forest, a Sensory garden for kids, Kiwi Trellis, Berry Patches, Mushroom Bin, 3 Demo Rain Gardens, raised beds for seniors, P-Patch plots for $25.00 per year + 10 hours of community service per year. Soon to be installed, an Herb Garden and a Latin American Garden.
We provide tools. Bring your own gloves, a water bottle, and dress for the weather. Wear clothes and shoes you can get dirty.
I live about 5 minutes away from the garden, so give me a call and I can give you a tour and set you up with a project of your choice.

The below picture is of students and staff at New Start School installing the Native Plant Garden, which is now 2 years old, looks awesome, and is producing berries and flowers!
We have trails, and randomly installed tree snags for bird habitat.
