I would be willing to teach/train individuals wanting to either become sound engineers or learn more about sound engineering. My background is as producer of 3 West Seattle Music Festivals (Morgan Community Festival, Alki Art Fair, and Delridge Day Festival) and numerous additional sound support gigs.
I have mostly analog gear which I will use for afternoon or evening lessons at my house. The offer is to provide tutoring with equipment and hands-on lessons for individuals up to the point where they are either satisfied with their curiosity or know what they want to learn or do next.
A potential hands-on experience for anyone interested in this learning experience is to be able to setup and run the sound system at one of the above-mentioned festivals. After lessons on live sound gear, individuals will have a solid foundation in how to do this and to be able to offer assistance to festivals or to seek job offers at venues.
This is not a formal process so there is no degree or certificate, however, my skills were learned over three decades and were taught by union masters of these trades including IATSE and AFTRA members (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists).
Training for individuals interested will be based on agreed-upon schedules for both parties. Frequency will also be user-based as will duration of each session.
My background is as a public spokesman and event/information manager for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for a 30-year stint which included 10 years in Houston at the Johnson Space Center and 20 years in Washington, DC at NASA Headquarters.
