Do you ever feel lonely or socially isolated? According to the US Surgeon General, Loneliness is an epidemic. There's also this article from the CDC: CDC PSA on Loneliness and Social Connectedness
Now that you have read a little about the problem, are you ready to learn and do something about it in a group format with other Time bank members? We will read through the book "Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make--and Keep--Friends" together, discuss what we learn and plan how we will each impliment this learning in our life to find people to connect with, make new friends, deepen our existing friendships and kick loneliness to the curb once and for all.
Format is a group of 5-10 participants.
Meets once every two weeks for 90 minutes at the same date/time for a total of 12 sessions over 6 months.
First 7 sessions involve reading and discussing the book Platonic a section at a time. Normal reading assignment is between 30-60 pages over 2 weeks.
Remaining 5 sessions are structured as a supportive environment to discuss changes that you are contemplating, experiments that you are conducting to find and make friends, and exploring other books and articles about connection/friendship.
Sessions are facilitated by a Board certified Health & Wellness Coach.
You must obtain your own copy of the book to use for the first 3 months. (Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make--and Keep--Friends" by Marisa G. Franco)
Results are not guaranteed. This is one of those life instances where you will get out of the experience what you invest in it in both time and effort. If you do the reading, answer the journal questions between sessions, engage in group discussion, and take part in your own friendship experiments outside of the group sessions, you very likely will experience many positive results--making some new friends and deepening relationships with those friends that you already have.
