Semiannual Timebank Soup Swap!
Sunday October 20, 2 PM to 5 PM
West Seattle, address upon RSVP
RSVP link: https://forms.office.com/r/Sfd7KKnGAP
What is it: Meet to trade homemade frozen soups, make a serendipitous community soup, and get to know other Timebankers.
What to bring:
- At least 4 individually packaged and frozen pints of soup. It’s easiest if all four are the same soup. If you want to bring multiple kinds of soups, bring 4 of each.
- Optionally, bring one extra thawed pint to offer as a taste beforehand.
- To participate in the "stone soup" community soup making, bring an ingredient you think would be great in soup. Suggestions: Any vegetable, beans (cooked or canned), grains (cooked or quick-cooking), spices....
- If you happen to have a mini slow cooker/crock pot, bring that, too.
How it works:
- Host will gather the Community soup ingredients and give some tips on making a great soup out of anything and food safety.
- Attendees will be assigned a number. In order, everyone will get a chance to brag about their soup (the “Telling of the Soup”). No pressure, but there has also been Singing of the Soup and some tall tales.
- We’ll go through the order again, this time with each person picking one pint.
- We’ll continue in rounds until the soup is gone.
What you’ll take home:
- 4 pints (frozen) of other soups
- A pint (fresh) of the community soup
- Good memories and new connections
Important notes:
- Notice we’re asking you to bring PINTS of soup (we did quarts in the past). Pints are easier for folks to make four of and easier for one person to handle as a meal.
- Tell us about your dietary restrictions and preferences in the RSVP. That helps us provide soups for all.
- Need a recipe or idea? Ask us! [email protected]
